Gafia Sailing Charters is pleased to have Captain Don DePoy as our sailing instructor. He offers a wealth of knowledge about sailing, the sea, and life. Having started sailing in the early 1970s on the Chesapeake Bay and living aboard
Brandy, his 38' sloop for 5 years, Don has logged many miles plying the coastal and inland waters of Atlantic seaboard. He holds a 100 Ton Near-coastal USCG Captain/Masters license with sail and sowing endorsements and currently teaches courses for the
American Boat School for mariners looking to obtain their captain's license from the US Coast Guard. During the winter season Don is a college professor in Bangor and holds a Ph.D. in American Culture.
